Boot Room

The scene... the team have all turned up... the coach is stuck in traffic - 'what are we gonna do?' Here are a few ideas to put into your training session (nothing to do with predators or total 90's):

MOVE IN TWOS
Good for awareness and playmaking

movement For this exercise you will need
Players in pairs. One ball between two. Coloured bibs. Size of area relevant to age, size and numbers. Split your group into two. Players pass a ball to their colours and move to receive another pass. Players without possession should press the opposition to gain possession and make a successful pass.

THROW HEAD CATCH
Directional : Heading techniques : Legal throw-ins : Supporting ball

movement For this exercise you will need
Two or more goals. Teams of threes. A ball for each team. Start at one end of the pitch with a 'legal throw-in', continue play with a header to team-mate who catches the ball who then continues with a throw-in. When throw-in and header are made, move into space and progress towards goal - with goal in site - FINISH. To encourage finishing accuracy place two cones within the goalmouth to encourage placed headers or introduce a goalkeeper.

ALAMO
Dribbling with the ball : Pace : Shooting : Follow up

movement For this exercise you will need
Two teams. A ball for each player. Two goals at either end of pitch. Dribble from one end of the pitch towards goal and finish, don't forget to follow up your shot for a possible rebound. Once you have taken your shot join the other side and continue. To encourage finishing accuracy place two cones within the goalmouth to encourage placed headers or introduce a goalkeeper. Technique is important, so look to keep your knee and head over the ball to keep your shot down - strike the ball off your laces and for power follow through ala Frank Lampard or Bobby Charlton.

DAZZLE 'EM - MR SHEEN
